Leslie C. Smith (smithleslie@sympatico.ca) is a Toronto-based freelance writer/editor who specializes in humorous opinion pieces, with occasional forays into the world of fashion, pets, lifestyle and other trendy topics.Her award-winning work has appeared in virtually every major Canadian newspaper, including The Globe & Mail, The National Post, Ottawa Citizen, Edmonton Journal and Vancouver Sun-Province. Her publishing credits also include two New York-area newspapers, The Staten Island Advance and New York Daily News.
Smith's magazine credits encompass a wide range of national and international publications, among them: en Route, Elle Canada, Forum, Fab National, Homemaker's, Holt Renfrew's Point of View, MR Magazine, Luxury, Les Ailes de la Mode, SOHO, Fashion & Design Magazine, Canadian Retailer, Canadian Interiors, Reader's Digest, TV Guide and, yes, even Dogs In Canada and Dog World (US).
She has made frequent appearances on network TV as a fashion and popular culture observer (Global, CBC, CTV, TVO and -- once -- the NBC Nightly News). Smith has also won four Aldo Awards, presented by the New York-based Fashion Association, honouring excellence in fashion reporting, and was recently nominated for a National Magazine Award for humour.
